Exploration
Models for Jurassic / Cretaceous Reservoirs, Alberta Foreland
Basin
This three-day course combines lectures
and hands-on examination of core suites from several depositional
types of reservoirs, including paleotopographic, fluvial,
deltaic, incised valley-fill/estuary, regressive shoreface,
and transgressive shoreface/shelf. Some of the reservoir units
covered are Belly River, Dunvegan, Viking, Bluesky, Ostracod,
Glauconitic Lower Mannville, Rock Creek, and Sawtooth/Shaunavon.
The aim of this course is to present
reservoir models for use as analogues for exploration/exploitation
and development geologists. In addition to a detailed course
manual for each participant, the workshop sessions are supported
by maps, cross-sections, and slide presentations.
